I chose this book to write about it because it created a lot of stir in the market, primarily because of its Author. I first saw this book at the airport during my travel from Jaipur to Gurgaon. I will not tell a lie, but I just went by the name of the Writer and read the Title later. The name ‘Robin Sharma” gave me a sense of excitement and expectations to learn something new and endearing again from his pen. So, I decided to give my five precious hours (1 Hour flight journey and the standard waiting time 🙂 ). So, friends, as I read this book from the beginning until the end. It makes me eager to write about it and let you all know about the inside knowledge. So, allow me to update you, friends, this book has grooved the say the “Don’t judge the book by its cover.” The Writer starts the book with a story that was baseless and slow and will do everything to test your patience level. As a real fighter, I didn’t give up. If we go by the name, suggest this book is about developing a habit of early rising and the benefits associated with it.
The most important aspect of the book was to develop the habits of early rising and how we can get benefits from those. I would say the Author was good at explaining through the pie charts and bullet points but that all came at the very end of the book, and I am sure so many people will lose the patience by then. The best line in the entire book is “ALL CHANGE IS HARD AT FIRST, MESSY IN THE MIDDLE AND GORGEOUS AT THE END”. I completely agree with it.
Few people may find this book a fantastic piece of reading. But if you have read his previous books, then definitely your expectations will be high, and this book may disappoint you. However, there are various methods and patterns given at the end (when the 80% book has finished), which can be followed by an individual and can change the life parameters a bit.
Here are the few essential messages from this book:
- “The primary purpose of life is growth: to be continuously pushing yourself to materialize more of your potential.”
- “Life is too short to play with your talents.”
- Your excuses are seducers, your fears are liars, and your doubts are thieves.”
- “One who sweats more in training bleeds less in war.”
- “All change is hard at first, messy in the middle and gorgeous at the end.”
Sorry to say, Mr. Sharma, you failed to impress this time as per the expectations of the readers. The 70 – 80% of the book is all about Drama, and the script was also not well-defined. You will get a feel of a “Bollywood Masala Movie”, w+here there is Drama, emotions, fight, romance, but no Story or script, let me elaborate on this further. There were discussions about cars, Chauffeurs, Female characters, Beaches, Island, Vineyards, Mauritius, India, Marriage, Fight, Gun Shots, etc. After the completion of 80% book, you will feel that now something has started coming in terms of enlightenment.
I want to give only 2.5 stars out of 5 to this in terms of a movie language. It is an avoidable book, and that can be easily replaced by “Morning Miracles by Hal Elrod.”
In conclusion, I would say that the Author didn’t put serious efforts into this piece of writing, or maybe he lost the path from the self-help books to no script movie Writing. Marketing was fantastic but couldn’t impress the ardent readers who wait for your book release.
